the artist

Christine Porter is a full time practicing artist living on the north coast of New South Wales, Australia, and working from her studio there, as well as in more remote areas.
She is a painter , printmaker, teacher and publisher.
- As a painter, her favoured medium is watercolour. She was elected in 1996 as an exhibiting member of the Australian Watercolour Institute and in 2007 to the Royal Art Society of New South Wales. Her paintings concentrate on the subject matter of rural Australia – especially the sheep, wool and cattle industries of western Queensland. New work in 2009 was a series of miniature painting and drawings entitled remembering how to fly: images of Australian and imagined birds.
- As a printmaker, Christine’s medium is the multi-plate colour etching with subjects that come from her painting practice as well as more personal subjects and ideas.
- In 1996 she formed the publishing company Full Moon Publications to create opportunities for showing her artwork in card and book form.
- Christine, who is a trained and experienced teacher, works with many artists providing training in technical aspects of painting and printmaking. She also provides education and coaching about professionalism in the arts industry through her seminars entitled Success and the Business of Artwork.
