A series of watercolour paintings on paper, of the buildings on a grazing property near Morven in south-west Queensland by Australian artist, Christine Porter. Subject matter includes the shearing shed (pictured) as well as other buildings within the precinct. The artworks range in size from 10cm square to a larger pieces 70 cm long. about the artist

artist statement

I forget about how people know some things, and others don't. I asked a friend who was helping me hang this work to get for me the painting with the box trees in front of the shed. He, Melbourne born and bred, stared quizzically at the options not knowing which to choose (see this painting).This botanical element, so commonplace across the west that it goes unremarked upon, is only one part of what sets this work apart from artwork created coast-side. It's about geography, these projects, about changing land use and architecture and culture and agriculture, but it's also about reminding people about what's there, beyond the great dividing range, in someone else's back yard.

	presentation Most of the work from this series has been exhibited framed behind glass, similar to the examples, left. Some work is presented archivally matted and wrapped in cellophane ready for framing.
