A series of twenty-five very small paintings - watercolour on paper, approximately 5cm square (5cm = 2 inches) by Australian artist, Christine Porter of subjects drawn from her rural Australian images. Another series of these small works is anticipated for 2011.
artist statement
Look closely.
Look closely at that point that is holding the picture together. That core central element that has the most zing. What would happen if all the rest was cropped out and just the important bit was left showing? Would it tell the same story?
Will it still maintain its artistic integrity even in this truncated state?
